Hi All, Let me start this note by saying "I get nothing out of this", other than the satisfaction of sharing a great resource with you, that, by the way, was originally shared with me by another list member! I'm paying this forward! Joe Pasky is a US printer rep who lives in China and has access to the top color printers in that part of the world. Joe is working on a third book for us in just the past couple of months and I couldn't be happier with the results. The pricing he is able to negotiate on our behalf is fabulous, he is a great communicator in both directions (he can effectively communicate with the printers because he lives there and is in the print shop watching the jobs as they are being produced) and he is a great communicator with US, keeping us updated every step of the way. Because he is living overseas, Joe has sent us photographs of our books during the print process, photos of the plant, photos of the actual folks working on our books and most recently, he caught a problem with one of the covers during the press run and was able to stop the presses, fix the problem, kept everyone informed throughout the process and this morning, he sent me a photograph of the finished book so I could see how the cover turned out. Had he not been right there, the problem would not have been caught until it was tooooo late. Joe also did something that I have never seen another printer rep do, he suggested a US printer for one of the jobs we sent to him. The job was a short-run trade, B&W interior book (about 200 pages) and while the price per unit was |

cheaper going with Joe, he suggested that since the interior was B&W, a US printer would be a better choice because the shipping from China would kill us. Joe was correct. EVEN when we asked the US printer to upgrade their paper stock to match what we were using overseas, Joe was right, we saved money and the job turned out great! By the way, if anyone wants to know about the fabulous US printer Joe recommended to us, shoot me a note and I would be happy to share that info with you too! We have all had mixed experiences with printers and printer reps. I am so grateful that another list member suggested Joe to us and I'm delighted to share that info with you!!
If you e-mail him, don't expect to hear back within minutes because he lives overseas and I believe they are 12 hours ahead of us so when it is 10 a.m. here, they are heading to bed over there!
