Proofs were sent to me by air in a timely manner and when it came time to ship the books the printer was careful to package them (perfectly for re-shipping and easy handling) in small cardboard boxes tightly filled, each filled box weighing less than 20 lbs, and each corrugated box containing only twelve books, divided into two groups of six books with each group wrapped in heavy Kraft paper. The boxes, each one showing our name and either the word 'hardcover' or the word 'paperback' on its side, were loaded onto new freight pallets with a piece of plywood on top of each load to protect the boxes on that pallet from being crushed and then the whole thing was very thickly shrink-wrapped to protect against wetness and to make sure the boxes didn't fly off the pallets while being moved. I could not have been more pleased and impressed.

I credit Joe with all of the expertise evinced throughout this project. He is tenacious and patient. I needed reassurances from him many times, being the world's greatest worry wart and a total neophyte in publishing, and Joe held my nervous hand all the way through, showing good humor and endless tolerance.

As a matter of course, I will get bids again when I need another run of this first book and when books two & three of our trilogy are ready to be printed, but I shall be astonished if I find any substantial reason to not place those jobs in Joe's capable hands.

For the highest quality printing at the best possible price offshore, you can do no better than Joe Pasky at Cathay America. A print project manager, Joe lives in Shenzhen. He is personable and the consummate professional. I checked out his State-side credentials carefully before I hired him to supervise the printing of our first book, 417 pages with trim-size of about 6x9 inches. Joe hired the correct manufacturer for me in China, made sure the job got done correctly, and the price was much better than the prices I had obtained from 27 of the most highly regarded book manufacturers here in the States & Canada plus two in India and one in South Korea.

My book, a romance/adventure titled The Vengeance Trap, was printed at 2,000 copies in hardcover with dust jacket and another 2,000 copies in trade paperback of the same size. The hardcover book was covered in black cloth with gold lettering on the front & spine. The dust jacket and the paperback cover were finished in matte plus a shiny surface on some of the lettering which made those words look raised. The hardcover binding was Smythe sewn and the paperback was Perfect bound.

Total turnaround time for this offshore job, including shuttling proofs between my home in central Florida and the factory in mainland China, was only six weeks from the day I sent over my totally-ready (professionally prepared) files to the day the books landed at a warehouse in Tampa.
